What the federal credit ban covers
From 11 June 2024, online and telephone wagering operators must not accept credit cards or funds linked to a credit card, including through digital wallets, for betting payments. Operators also cannot provide credit or help a customer obtain it. The purpose is to prevent betting with borrowed funds, not to certify any particular operator.

A debit label still needs verification
Some cards access only available funds, while others combine debit and credit functions. A processor or merchant category can affect how a transaction is treated. This site does not offer a card-selection workaround; readers should rely on their financial institution and official guidance for a specific existing payment question.

The online casino prohibition remains separate
A discussion of debit does not imply that a casino transaction becomes available. Online casino services cannot be offered to people physically present in Australia. Readers should not interpret a successful authorisation, unfamiliar merchant description or wallet route as proof that the underlying service complies with Australian law.
